I hope George packed his Aqua Net
Vh-1 Classic is my new favorite cable channel. They show music videos exclusively from the 70s, 80s and 90s. And last week, they aired non-stop Christmas videos! I’d like to share my favorites with you.
Wham! – Last Christmas
The real star of this video is George Michael’s hair. Let’s stop for a moment and appreciate it, shall we? Not only is it highlighted.. it’s feathered and blow-dried. In this video, George is on a skiing vacation, where he spends his time trying to keep the snow out of his hair. (George, I’m just kidding. I love you. I listen to Freedom 90 when I go running at the gym. And if I were in a snowball fight with you, I’d never aim at your beautiful hair)

Band Aid - Do They Know It’s Christmas?
This video was shot in 1984 - at the height of Bob Geldof’s influence. Live Aid was a huge success, and Geldof wanted to get his superstar friends together one more time – to record a Christmas song for African famine relief. (The British cared about Africa way before we did)
This video is extra-special to me, for several reasons:
0:21 – Paul Young looks like he just fell out of bed. The Mullet Count is currently at 1.
0:59 – Only Simon Le Bon can pull off vertical and horizontal stripes at the same time. Mullet Count: 2
1:23 – Poor Bono looks so short, next to Sting and Simon Le Bon. Mullet Count: 3
1:52 – This music video is secretly sponsored by Squirt
1:58 - Everyone in this shot is pasty white, except for George Michael. I wonder if spray-tanning existed in 1984.
2:32 – A white fur coat.. with yellow stirrup pants, yellow shoes, and a blue football jersey? I know it was the 80’s, and fashion was questionable.. but come on.
2:46 – That’s a lot of guitar players… for a song that has no guitar. 
3:37 – I honestly don’t know if that’s a man or a woman. What do you think? Mullet Count: 4
All joking aside, I love this music video. And everyone should take a few minutes to read about Bob Geldof. He has led quite an interesting life.. being knighted by Queen Elizabeth, nominated for a Nobel Peace Prize… and that’s just the tip of the Geldof iceberg. Wait until you find out what he named his daughters.
